Ain’t our fault
It is very painful to be born in a country where one is constantly faced with decisions about themselves but unable to decide of their own accord, forced to oblige as if the rules were set by a divine force. This is an issue making geographic determinism even more apparent. The artist’s generation – that of the 1990s – in Iran, although hopeful to enjoy their youth, happiness and freedom, but woke up everyday to receive bad news instead – another upcoming war, looming fear, harsh restrictions. Although in this house the atmosphere is tense, all silver linings gradually disappear, and all idols are eventually destroyed. Now, instead of liberty, people welcome this limbo which they cannot escape.
